In weather emergencies and terrorist attacks, the ASPIS-LAM® Explosion resistant line represents the number one tool to protect people’s lives. By and large, glass is able to withstand pressure waves created by explosions, depending of course on imponderable factors, such as the amount of explosives used and the distance from the explosion site.

WHAT IS AN EXPLOSION?
A pressure / time: any explosion creates a shock wave or blast effect (so-called incident pressure) when it meets an obstacle, creates a pressure peak, also called reflected pressure (about twice the incident pressure), for a certain duration. It is this reflected pressure that is taken into account in standards. After the shock wave comes a depression (negative pressure) equivalent to about 1/3 of the reflected pressure peak.
European standards have been used to qualify sets of structures. These standards are: EN 13123/124-1and EN 13123/124-2.
